Who We Are

 

This Generation Initiative is a second-chance program dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity to individuals impacted by incarceration and life’s toughest challenges. Founded by Kortni Sheffield, our mission is to walk alongside people—whom we call “champs”—as they re-enter society and rebuild their lives with purpose.

 

We operate inside Jefferson County Jails and continue support after release, providing a consistent system of care that addresses each person’s unique needs. Our approach is rooted in mentorship, empowerment, and community collaboration. Whether someone is currently incarcerated or newly released, This Generation stands as a bridge from where they’ve been to where they’re destined to go.

    •    Weekly support calls for champs to process challenges and celebrate progress.

    •    Financial literacy, entrepreneurship education, and spiritual guidance.

 

Community Outreach

    •    Monthly “Get to Know Us” meetings to build relationships with community partners.

    •    Summits and events focused on mental, physical, and spiritual wellness.
